The Granada Christian Education Center
(GCEC)
Our bilingual, private Christian school is located 15 minutes south of Granada at the base of beautiful Mombacho Volcano. It is in the center of a fast-growing community on the outskirts of the city made up of several vulnerable neighborhoods including Pantanal, Madroño, Posentepe, Praderas de Mombacho, and la Galera. This Christ-centered, transformational development project grew out of a desire to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of at-risk children and families through empowerment and education. We consider it a missionary extension of the work that God started in 2006 through The Bridge (El Puente) by a specific calling to go the place of greatest need.
What started as a mere vision is now a robust and growing school community that God is using to transform lives. The Granada Christian Education Center (GCEC) currently has four classrooms and four grade levels: Preschool Level II (age 4), Preschool Level III (age 5), 1st grade (age 6), and 2nd grade (age 7). Our long-term vision is to add one classroom and grade level a year and to be a fully accredited preschool, primary, AND secondary school by 2027. With the essential help of partners who share our mission and vision, school construction projects will continue for several years.
After an arduous process, in December 2016 the GCEC became a fully accredited school by the Nicaraguan Ministry of Education (MINED) for preschool and regular elementary (Educacion Inicial y Educacion Primaria Regular). We currently charge a symbolic tuition rate of $1.80 a month per student to make a quality Christian education accessible to some of the poorest families of Granada, Nicaragua. Our goal is to offer families hope for a better future through education in a safe and loving environment that maintains Christ at the center of all its school activities.
